Constructing a Software Design

‘There are two ways of constructing a software design. One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies and the other is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies.’

    — C. A. R. Hoare

Hoare is the inventor of Quicksort among other things.
The sentiment reminds me of the famous Shaw sign-off:

‘I am very sorry to write you such a long letter. I didn’t have time to write you a short one.’
